Wagon Woods - coming soon!

We recently welcomed pupils from Reid Street Primary School and Directors from Homes by Esh to Hopetown Darlington

They were invited onsite to see where Wagon Woods will be constructed in the new year!

Sponsored by Homes by Esh and designed by Creating Adventurous Places (CAP.co), Wagon Woods is the brand new £600,000 railway-themed, immersive outdoor adventure playground – part of the £35 million scheme at Hopetown Darlington.

Based on the historic Brusselton Incline, the playground will be a natural addition to the visitor attraction for all the family. It will be built into the existing trees and natural clearings within Hopetown Darlington and will be a great addition to the attraction for all the family. It will feature walkways, bridges, slides, a multi-level play structure and lots of neat, themed features.

Also Included in the design is an accessible incline track with interactive features and a companion slide suitable for wheelchair users.

Wagon Woods will allow children’s imaginations to run wild and inspire them to be curious and courageous while enjoying the benefits of outdoor play and has been developed in consultation with local childminders and staff and pupils from Reid Street Primary School and Beaumont Hill Academy in Darlington.

Staff from Hopetown Darlington were joined by pupils from Reid Street Primary School and Directors from Homes by Esh.

Phil Brown, Managing Director at Homes by Esh said: “As a local housebuilder with live developments within the area, we are thrilled to be named as sponsor and become part of the journey to introduce a new adventure playpark at Hopetown Darlington. We’re proud to work with local communities across the region and this investment into Wagon Woods will ensure that children will always have a place to play in Darlington.”

The pupils from Reid Street Primary School couldn't contain their excitement either, with one pupil saying “we used to visit the museum before it closed and I cannot wait to come and play in the playground”, while another exclaimed “wow, it looks so big and exciting for everyone!”

Wagon Woods will open in summer 2024
